About Goathland Candles
What began as a simple creative outlet soon grew into something far more meaningful. We first introduced our candles to the Houston community through a fundraiser supporting the Choir at Christ Church Cathedral—where Charlie sings. Over the course of two years, candle sales helped contribute nearly $6,000 to the choir, and along the way we realized our small passion project might truly have the potential to become something special.
As interest grew, our candles were welcomed into one of Houston’s most prestigious salons, Michael Saldana Salon, marking an exciting step forward for our young brand.
Before long, our kitchen could no longer keep up with the growing demand. What started at the stovetop evolved into a dedicated candle studio when we transformed our home office into our creative workspace.
And from the very beginning, our beloved fur-baby Firefly has been there every step of the way—our loyal first assistant and constant source of inspiration.
The name Goathland Candles is inspired by the village of Goathland in the North Yorkshire Moors, England, a place full of happy memories for Charlie and now for both of us together. The village became even more special when Eduardo, a devoted Harry Potter fan, discovered that Goathland Station was used as Hogsmeade Station in the first two films. The name Goathland is thought to come from “good land”, from an Old English name, and for us, “good land” hints at a place where life moves a little slower and the air feels a little fresher.
As partners in life and in this small business, we’ve poured that shared vision into Goathland Candles. Every fragrance, every vessel, and every small detail is crafted to bring a sense of warmth, calm, and welcome into your space—the way good land welcomes you home.
